I’m in Los Angeles now to be with my mother who is dying. Losing someone is often a catalyst for reminding us how much they meant to us, and how much we took that person for granted while they were here.
The biggest reason people are so unhappy comes from their inability to appreciate what they already have. When you’re trapped in an endless cycle of wishing and wanting life to be different, the way out is gratitude. Counting your blessings is the simplest way to fill yourself with satisfaction and delight.
Being grateful is a choice, and a skill that can be developed with practice. Tomorrow, that’s what I’ll be talking about.
